Hotel Duty Manager

Essentially, it is your job to ensure that memories are created for all our guests, clients and customers not only when visiting an outlet or planning an event but also during their entire time with us. While guests will notice the surroundings of the hotel, it is the personal interactions they will remember and this is at the centre of this role.

Duty Manager

  • Foster positive thinking and motivation within the operation.
  • Responsible for the security of department facilities and equipment, including the cleanliness of rooms, Business Centre, crockery, china and glassware, as well as AV equipment prior to closing and to minimise breakage and loss.
  • Strong written and spoken English.
  • Strong leadership and proactive problem solving skills.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Excellent hospitality/customer service skills.
  • To manage department’s rotas
  • Checking bedrooms to ensure they are clean and to a very high standard
  • To ensure all equipment is functioning and all front desk and back office areas are kept clean and tidy.
  • To take responsibility in reporting any maintenance issues to the Maintenance Department and to follow-up the issue accordingly.
  • To take responsibility in balancing both group and individual accounts.
  • To maintain effective communication within the department and ensure that the Head of Department & GM is kept well informed of any problems/queries that have arisen, and to report any problems/complaints.
  • To take responsibility for handling all accident and incident reports and logging and communication of the correct and precise information according the Hotel’s policy on accident handling and Health and Safety.
  • To be familiar with all Reception tasks and ensure smooth running of the front desk, being available for coverage in all areas of front office during busy period and meal breaks.
  • To deal efficiently and courteously with any guest enquiries in a timely manner and to ensure guest satisfaction by communicating any relevant issues to the Event Co-ordinator.
  • Setting and resetting meeting rooms
  • To run all meeting/ events whilst on duty to insure guest leave happy
  • To liaise effectively between departments and management regarding VIP arrivals, groups and functions.
  • To supervise any group arrivals, acting as liaison between all relevant departments.
  • Support the delivery of service to the required standards
  • Use the logbook effectively for internal communications.
  • Must be organised, and able to work under pressure, multi task and deal with matters on a priority basis, by putting the guest’s needs first.

Key responsibilities:

  • Dealing with guests over the telephone
  • Event show arounds
  • Putting conference/ events dates in the diary
  • Negotiating rates
  • Up-selling more expensive event or conference packages
  • Ensuring marketing promotions run at the right time
  • Updating and cleansing the database to make sure you’re selling to the right people
  • Assisting the C&B Sales Manager with admin and also typing the function sheets

As Chef de Partie, you will assist the Sous Chef & Head Chef in the day to day running of the kitchen whilst inspiring others and leading by example

 Preparing, cooking and presenting dishes
 Managing and training any demi-chef de parties or commis working with you
 Helping the sous chef and head chef to develop new dishes and menus

We are looking for a talented, creative Junior Sous Chef for this very busy hotel in the heart of Guildford. Who is capable of bringing their own flair for cooking and presentation to a fast paced kitchen producing high quality modern dishes and possessing the following qualities:

·Strong leadership skills to motivate your brigade of chefs
·Maintaining a safe and hygienic kitchen environment
