The Mandolay Hotel in Guildford is extending their successful fundraising initiative in support of The Prince’s Countryside Fund.

The number of charitable wines available on their award-winning wine list has been increased, with 13 of the 77 wine and Champagne choices on offer now included. The Mandolay has already raised in excess of £1,100 for the Fund.

Matthew Milliken, General Manager of the Mandolay Hotel, said: “We have selected a few wines from our list and we are making a £1 donation to The Prince’s Countryside Fund for each bottle sold.

“This has been a case of a small idea bearing a substantial amount of fruit and we are delighted to help support The Prince’s Countryside Fund with their fabulous work supporting farming families and rural communities across the UK.”

The idea has also been well received in the prestigious Conde Nast Johansens Guide ‘Wine List of the Year’ competition in 2016, drawing praise for its ‘inventive and creative support of such a worthy cause.’

Matthew became aware of The Prince’s Countryside Fund in July 2016, and was impressed by the work it does to support rural communities, enhance the prospects of family farm businesses, and generally improve the quality of life in the British countryside.

Claire Saunders, Director of The Prince’s Countryside Fund, said: “We are thrilled to receive this generous support from Matthew and the team at the Mandolay Hotel. This creative initiative helps us to continue the vital work we do supporting the UK’s rural communities and farms.”

The Prince’s Countryside Fund delivers a varied programme of activity including commissioning research, advocacy, direct delivery and a grant programme which since 2010 has awarded over £8.5m to projects around the UK.
